as i leave the cabin half way up blackwater mountain the sunlight hurts my eyes as i open the door and step outside onto the fresh powdery snow. I shield my eyes for a moment as they adjust and as i hear the crisp crunch of snow underfoot a slight whisper escapes my lips...

"I will find you brother... where ever you are, I will find you."

I rushed through the gargoyle caves, effortlessly blocking every single blow they give me. The few that I fail to block are no threat to me. Skin toughened to bark-like roughness can have that effect, I muse, as I search through the bodies of the fallen ones for that which I seek... Alas... a rock, another rock, a healing potion, and another rock. I think I'm going to search this cave for a long, long time...
Hey guys, I'm back.

My body tingled with a mixture of poison and a wild energy that surged through me each time I made yet another kill. These foul, tentacled beasts had a nasty sting but I continued to mow them down like moist grass leaving nothing but ugly splotches on the ground. I had to be fast, darting in and out, striking where I could and then backing off to a safe distance. They must have short eyesight because I could usually manage to charge in and get a few good punches before they could react and, succeeding in my mission, I would be long gone by then only to return a few seconds later while they nursed their injuries. Whenever I was badly hurt I would turn and run back to the caves where the fat beetles were and blaze through them like a whirlwind growing stronger and stronger the more enemies I slew. For now, this was my home but I've had many homes since I left my father's house back in that little village. I knew not where my brother was but I did know that I would continue pressing forwards; I would keep searching for him until he was found.

I kicked the corpse of the Irdegh off my shoe and smiled at the sky. It was a good day for killing monsters.

I grew up in a small village most have never heard of, Crossglen. For the most
part, I had a happy childhood and spent much of my time playing in the nearby
groves with my brother Andor. It was a grand time in those days. My family
was originally from Nor City but my grandfather preferred the small town life
and moved here when he was a young man. He died when I was a young lad but from
what I do remember of him, he enjoyed living here a great deal. He was a
devout follower of The Shadow and frequented the church in nearby Fallhaven. I
thought alot of my grandfather but haven't made up my mind on the true nature
of The Shadow as yet, so I take a neutral outlook on that.

Andor and I would get into trouble on occassion, stealing pies from our
neighbor Leta's window sill. Occasionally we would have Audir make us wooden
swords so we could practice our swordsmanship. Looking back, I never imagined
it would be a skill I would use, let alone enjoy. In those days we would kill
rats that would run around in our fields. Like I said, I did enjoy my childhood.

In the last few years, things have taken on a darker tone since the arrival of
the troops from Feygard. They seem nice enough most of the time, but I can't
help the feeling that there is a hidden agenda especially with the restrictive
laws that they have passed. We are a peaceful people but I get the feeling
that things may degenerate if we are pushed too far and I'm not sure how we
would fare against the well supplied Feygard troops.

I don't spend much time in Crossglen anymore. Oh, I will stop by from time to
time to see how things are and to do a little trading. Mostly selling trinkets
I have picked up in my travels. I spend most of my time these days fighting
all manner of beasts from the lowly forest beetle to nasty White Wyrms to even
worse Arulir. When I first started I had heard rumors that some of these
beasts were armed with magical items that they would occassionally drop when
killed. It took a long time, but to my surprise, the rumors were true. I have
found some items of unimaginable power that I am able to wield to increase my
fighting prowess. I have started to catalog many of the things that I have
discovered but have heard stories of even greater things that I still have
not seen and likely, never will.

To think, this all started when my brother Andor disappeared. I haven't
mentioned that, have I? Some time ago I was sleeping one off after a wild
night at the Crossglen Tavern. I awoke to discover that my brother Andor was
missing. Now, at first, I didn't think much of it. He was known to be able to
outdrink just about everyone except for maybe a handful of guys. I figured he
would return in a day or two. Once he didn't return right away, I started to
track him down. I heard lots of rumors. One that he may have even been
involved in a mass poisoning in Loneford. It appeared that my brother may have
been more politically active than I had imagined. There have been many
reported sightings of him from one town to the next but finding him has been
elusive to me. I have even resorted to asking the Shadow to help me find him
and the truth of the many things I have heard. I will continue to search for
him and I hope to find him before he goes too far and does something that will
change his life, or all of our lives forever.

Prologue...

Once again, It was a dark and stormy night somewhere in wilderness...

The wind howled and the freesing rain beat against the little boy's face almost as it want to tear the flesh from the bones. Boy was tired and desperate, but he still keeps on following trails... just one more god-forsaken mountains to pass, and I found him he thinks.. only a few steps more .. and a little luck and the wolves can not find me...

In middle of the night when howles of the wolfs keep on approaching.. boy drops to his knees and turned his face towards the heavens and scream "WHY ME , why i need to save Andor again and again..." he falls on to the ground and sob. ".. I swear that the next time, im not the helples one... I'm not scared anymore .. all the others are afraid of me..."
