...in the next few days. :D the one i currently have, has a dwindling battery, plus i cannot root it. :3

so the phone i am getting has root capabilities, however i want to use it to degooglize phone. :3 and such. any suggestions on an opensource OS that has very few default apps? i do not want lineageOS or Replicant... because i can simply degooglize my phone and keep the 7.1 version that comes with the phone. *nods

Use TWRP and install nanolx. Keeping your current OS but removing all of the Google crap. You can find details on the xda forums.

if it supports lineageos, i prefer that as a clean solution than trying to ix back something that was already broken :D
