I think this may be awesome. Won't really help super high level characters, but I think it could be cool. For MtG players, it would be a weapon for the the monsters that is similar to the title. For everyone else: certain monster(s) will have a weapon that, on a successful hit, lowers your HP by 50% rounded up. When you kill one of them you get that weapon, except for you, it cannot be equipped. Once you've collected X (100?) of them, you can take them to a blacksmith that will grind them and use it to make a coating for one of your weapons that raises the AC or AD a little and gives the weapon that ability. What do you guys think?

If you want it closer to the Magic card it should probably have a small chance of just killing you or the monster (deathtouch).

It seems a bit overpowered though, halfing HP is a lot of damage! Imagine a Quick Strike Dagger got coated with that...

The numbers are fluid. It could be 100% of the time for monsters with the weapon, but only 20% or even 5 or 10 for players seeing as it is just an added bonus to the weapon you want it on. The number it takes to grind up, the drop rate of the weapon, the number of creatures that have it, etc. can all be amended to make it balanced. I don't think anyone who gets it will necessarily need it, but it would be a fun dynamic to add to the game. I think giving deathtouch would make it over powered, especially if the monster got that ability... ;)
