While a valid strategy I've found that a high DR only helps much with the spiders. If you move onward you're still often getting stunned and the hits are still pretty heavy. Considering this I decided to see what would have a better effect, high DR or high BC. When I was aiming for high DR I had a block chance of 156% if I remember correctly. With various equipment I went down to 1 DR and up to 195% block chance. I am now rarely getting hit at all, neither by the spiders nor by the monsters further on.
I do have a RoLS and RoL equiped to help offset the HP loss and I am now one-shotting the spiders even when their ability is reducing my damage output, however as the BC and DR change both come from items only I feel this move should also have worked earlier and potions could offset the HP loss just as well as those equiped items. I think that on the whole in this area a high BC would be preferable over a high DR, though both work.
