Every summer I end up taking a character from scratch to about level 55. This year I am trying to be a bit more smart about it... and in thinking it through I am wondering if I really will need any more than 3 points in Increased Fortitude / Regen.... and just shove every thing else I get into Magic Find. That means that at level 35 I will have capped out IF And Regen (from the skill points obtained at 28th & 32nd Levels) and every other Skill point from 36 onwards will merely be MF.
This makes sense to me now because I don't see myself needing more than +3 to health per level after a while.... and likewise +3 to Regen will heal me soon enough'ish.
Am I missing something I hadn't thought of?
What's your skill point allotment gone out to? Is there something that will be needed further on down the line?
TIA

Re: IF, Regen & MF
I don't think there's a perfect recipe for skills. My main build has IF4 and Re2. I don't regret those choices, but I'm not taking any more in either of them. I'm not going to put anything in MF though. I'm actually not sure where I will go with skills. I keep changing my mind about which direction to take, and will probably do that until I actually take a skill that locks in a direction

My MF is because (A) I have NEVER gotten a legendary item and (B) because I have NEVER gotten a legendary itemrijackson741 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 10:22 am I don't think there's a perfect recipe for skills. Have I said I have NEVER gotten a legendary item? I want the high MF for that reason, but I am also thinking about more action points....

Re: IF, Regen & MF
Have you gone after a legendary item? The drop chance is only 1 in 10,000, so you are very unlikely to get one unless you grind for it. Even with 5 levels of MF the drop chance is only about 1 in 3000. So if you want a legendary item you either need to be very lucky, or work very hard to get it.

I have gone after them before, but knowing that my play time is limited, I usually do it in spurts. 300 kills here, another 400 a few days later.
I haven't placed too many points into MF before... But I will say this :. Hit level 24 this morning at the bottom of BlackWater mountain, decided to risk it and head up shortly after. I have only killed enough mobs to reach level 25 (about 2 hours ago) and I already have FIVE BlackWater daggers. I almost have all five wyrm Claws I need for the quest as well.
I am really liking MF ....

I stick with Increased Fortitude 2 and Regeneration 2 & I get them as early as possible!
In the past I used to take Magic Finder & also capped it at 2...
But, that was in the past - to experiment.
More recently, I was trying out Treasure Hunter in testing...
and for a skill related to looting - it pays off quite well!
(you guessed it, capping the skill at two - mainly because of where the game is in development)
When I grind for Legendaries - I use the reload technique & have found much success.
With or without the Magic Finder skill. (not everyone likes that tactic though)
TL/DR: The gold increase from Treasure Hunter was noticeable, (to me)
however the rewards from the Magic Finder skill were not.

In closing, I also always max out Combat Speed ASAP.
I also take Evasion often - not just for hit & run tactics...
but we are getting options for reducing costs of item use as well as changing gear in combat.
That along with my penchant for equipping items that reduce my flee cost...
My character starts dancing around between enemies, quaffing potions & switching gear if needed.
Cleave is really nice when the enemies start swarming you - it's nice to be able to fight back when they close in so fast!
Corpse Eater pairs nicely with this when you're taking damage and want to keep attacking when getting swarmed & killing mobs.
I take Corpse Eater twice after levelling Regeneration twice. (but never Regeneration 4)
Regen 2 & Corpse Eater 2 were much more beneficial in dangerous areas.
At least until we have more areas to explore, with more dangerous foes.

Not all extraordinary items are effected by Magic Finder.BethelAbba wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 4:20 pm Make that 8 BlackWater daggers.... And two BW long sword.s.
The description is a bit misleading.
[ we might wanna fix this before the next release? ]
Have you seen this thread?
It lists the items effected by the skill.
I assume it will be updated when we release the new content.
And I believe it is up to date with the public release.
