Why the long bridge?

Post by BWPanda »

On the mountainlake2 map, there's a bridge spanning an inlet of water. However, the bridge spans the widest part of the inlet. Why is that? Surely the builders would have wanted to save unnecessary expenses and build the bridge across the narrowest part...?

Maybe that's not what it looked like when the bridge was built...

Maybe the supplier of the stone for the bridge bribed the bridge engineer to make it longer.

Maybe during the snow melt at the end of winter the lake overflows and this place is a bit higher.

It was a dark day, many stonemasons and warriors were preparing a bridge just a few paces north, but they were met with ill fate. The lady of the lake hath risen from the lake and taken the strongest warrior, this scared the other warriors and stonemasons, they knew the bridge was necessary for the fated one. Whom we all know now as _______ (insert your charater's name) They thought about it for some time, and decided just south would be safe enough. This made the lady of the lake angry, she flooded the area at which the bridge was to be built. And that, my children is why the bridge is there. :3

The tale of Lady of the Lake dates back to medieval times, in england.
(a short version of this.)
A Soldier came upon a lake where he seen this most beutiful of woman swimming, she motions for him to join her, he is intoxicated by her beauty, and goes in, (the rest has different variations,) but the original, he keeps coming back to her. until his wife sees and he gets eaten by the lady of the lake.

Various other cultures have a similar story, Mermaids, Sirens, Snow Lady, etc.

:3 if you ever get into the original storys of those çhildren's fairy tales, they really were told to invoke fear. But the Brothers Grimm and Christian Anderson both kinda nerfed the originals because they were "far too ungodly" or "far to horrifying" to tell to children.

:3 the original Red Riding Hood is probably my favourite but i cannot discuss it here.

But the originals of some of them can be found in a fairly handy book of story telling, "the Mabinogion" :3
