Bows

Just curious if the game engine can incorporate Bows or other distance weapons?
If so, I would like to create some distance weapons.

I was thinking about that too :lol:
I cant see any way a character could equip a bow and fight monsters from a distance, but what if monsters had ranged (doesnt even have to be bows) abilities. If you stepped into a certain radius of them an effect would come upon the character like:
Arrow Fire,
50% chance of 15 damage per round
The effect will stay with you until either you exit the area or take out the archer

You would just have to be able to select and attack a target not in your direct threat range, but that would mean threats being able to do the same thing. Now that I think about it, that would probably be a pretty major overhaul to the game mechanics.
It would also mean that magic could be included as well though.

Someone on the forums made a prototype of ranged weapons mechanics. There was some clever stuff in there, but I felt like it complicated gameplay more than it added to it.

The ranged weapons test build was entertaining, but in the end we decided not to go that route. It introduced a lot of complications, and the benefits were not worth the work of fully implementing it. The AT team has (very) limited resources, and therefore we have to put them where players get the most benefit for the work we have to do. Ranged weapons was not that.

Well, bows can make fine interior decoration. We can use a bow sprite on a map tile.
