Skill reset

Post by Nightcore »

There should be a way to reset the skills selected by the user to none and regain the skill points. This is because I have selected few skills that I regret a lot doing. Ofc there should be a huge cost to do such things

From a technical perspective, this is impossible to implement due to not being able to reset all that was gained from the selected skill.
Sorry, but this will never happen.

It has been implemented already.
Resetting your skills costs all your exp. It's called "new character".

Most people that have suggested this feature over the last decade are the ones that have spent skill points in magic finder and after they find the legendary item they're looking for, they want their skill points back.

Same thing goes for skills like merchant or quick learner. How do you reset those skills after you've gained all of that money and experience points?

Let the gained money and experience points be there, after removing the skill there would be no more extra money or exp to be earned. Just making it expensive to remove a specific skill costing like an oegyth crystal and 100000 gold would be enough to stop people to abusing the feature. Many other games have done this so I don't think it's completely impossible.

You could have found the answer for this just by searching the forums. We cannot undo the gains from a skill. The information does not exist in the savegame, and it would be extremely complicated to implement even if it did.
in AT you make choices, then you have to live with them. Nobody will make it through their first play through of the game without regrets.
So, to reiterate, the answer is that this will not happen!
