Excellent points on the Quick Learner Skill. I had not even considered that the skill would contribute to a more rapid rise in the rankings! I’ll allocate some levels to this skill now.

Having considered that one specific skill would help some rise in the rankings above others, perhaps we should reconsider what attributes contribute to a ranking. Perhaps possession of legendary and extraordinary items should also be a weighted factor? The amount of gold one possesses? The number of blood splatters on the character's armor? etc.

I worry that the more players are motivated by a desire to be top ranked, the greater the temptation for falsely recording stats. It is, after all, a self reported set of numbers.
I think we can all trust each other with the honor system on our stats. Its not like there's anything substantial to gain from being on top, its just a fun competition to keep us going between updates. Quick Learner is definitely a game changer as far as this list goes, but its biggest benefits are still in-game (I don't want to get into that here and go off topic but there's a topic about the skills).

It is on the honor system. If you falsely report your numbers, you are a sad, sad individual; it's not like you actually win something for being up there...

I will in the next update.

In the beginning I thought about a ranking function. (depending not only on XP)
Feel free to propose something, perhaps I include it as a second measure in the list.

Ideas:
- xp
- gold
- possession of legendary and extraordinary items
- completeness of signature
- number of posts in the forum

What about Goodheit = xp / 500,000 + gold / 50,000 + #legendary_items * 12 + #extraordinary_items * 3 + #signature_items * 5 + #forum_posts / 5

I am against the number of extraordinary and legendary items being used to determine ranking, as they are a matter of pure luck. (I am sure that everyone knows why I do not favor this proposal.) Bad luck should not count against me.

As much as some people would like forum posts to count, surprisingly, most of the people that are in the top ten (myself included) would prefer they did not as it would dilute the concentration of quality posts simply for the sake of bumping oneself up on yet another arbitrary list. I know Lady Black won't like it for obvious reasons, but I'm 50/50 (even though I don't have any/many) because the people that choose to spend their time in a crappier exp farming location to get items should have that reflected in some way. The only caveat being that others who do not spend their skill points on Magic finder may get screwed the most. (e.g. someone spends 10 skill points on MF, farms a bunch of heavily weighted items quickly, then grinds in the best exp spots the rest of the time). My 4 SP on Fortitude do not garner me any advantage on the High Score list. If you are going to adjust for one thing that can be affected by SP, you should adjust for them all. Essentially, there is only one thing that matters (and again I apologize for not remembering, but at least this time I have the excuse of drunkenness) as someone said it all comes down to [paraphrase] patiently grinding for hours and hours (I'm really sorry, I'm sure that's way off from what was actually said). Gold is also nonsense. I could sell all of my items and have a WAAAAY higher gold count, but I like to have fun mementos of places I've ground even though they don't do anything for me. (I also like to have the near 6k BMP I still have in inventory chillin' for when I need them...)

Signature items may be worth doing just to make it easier for you to sort them. I support anything that eases the jobs of those that do something nice like this for everyone.

I do not understand why all of a sudden it is questionable to allot skill points to one and not to another skill in determining “high score” ranking.
Now, allotting skill points to magic finder will result in having a better chance in finding those rare items, so not a fair factor in determining ranking, as those who do not allot points will be at a disadvantage of obtaining a fair rank slot. Those who allot skill points to increased fortitude will have an hp advantage over those who prefer another skill. I am sure that those who allot points to quick learner are aware they lack in another area, and those who assign points to another skill are aware they will not gain additional exp from a monster kill.
Should we also consider how many snakes one has defeated compare to lets say gargoyles, as one has to defeat more snakes to get to the amount of exp as someone concentrating on gargoyles.
Once a system to measure success is in place and the terms have been defined that system should not be changed. Its like starting the race with the understanding that the first car crossing the finish line is the winner, but halfway through the race someone changes the rules to that you must have one yellow and one red tire.
May I suggest implementing another scoring list with different definitions of what is success?

Good point, but I only wanted to add a new measure. This would not affect the current (good) sorting of the list at all.

It was just an idea. :|

Does this mean I have to head to the Gargoyle cave? Lady Black, you need to change your location...
