Two skill points in MF gives you 1:5000 odds, which is double the original 1:10,000, but still not exactly what you would bet on in a horse race. It should, on average, halve your time to get the l&e items. I had killed 30,000 gargoyle trainers and masters (based on 7500 small rocks accumulated) without getting any RoLS. Then the skill points came out and I put two of them into MF. I still had to kill another 5000 monsters, but I finally got the ring. In a very short time, about a month, I had the complete set. Now (less than 4 months after that first ring) I lack only 2 RoL's to have 4 complete sets. I think MF helps, but most of it is still luck unless you put a lot of points into it, which could be better used elsewhere. I do not regret using those two for MF, but will not use any more.

A little luck goes a long way, but cutting the odds in half really helps. :)

Another thing that will affect how much or little I regret putting skill points into Magic Finder is whether or not more Legendary or Extraordinary items are added with each update.

One on hand, I'd rather just be able to kill a boss or find a good shop for a cool weapon, but on the other hand, I would feel like those skill points are still being put to use.

only the Rols is worth grinding in the leg/ext items like you said you can get better equipment either by killing bosses or buying them so my thinking is people using points on the magic are basiclly using them to obtain one usefull item.the only reason why we search for the other items is to level up,apart from the Rols how many of us use the other items on the list.i predict many of them will just be sat in there inventery

IMHO, I disagree! The RoL is very much worth using magic finder skills to loot.

A few people put 1-2 points into Magic Finder just to get a complete set too.
But even the RoLS has near-equivalents in shops (Polished ring of backstabbing & Villain's ring).

i did a build with MF 2 & QL 2 and was very pleased with the results
although, with a serious character i dont want to take the short-cut skills

thats because i have no problem grinding for drops or for XP
and i want my skills to make me stronger, not luckier (or more apt to gain XP)

but... like i said - 2 points felt like a sweet spot & when i did pick MF
(it was only for the RoLS - - i had two by lvl. 36 - - around 845 & 40 rocks)

the full set was obtained when i decided to go crazy leveling to 100+ (no MF!)
with or without MF i have been VERY lucky!

and in this topic - luck is the name of the game
"Embrace the Shadow"

I've been grinding the gargoyle caves for a RoLS for weeks now. I started at MF of 1 and I've got a MF of 4 now. I'll continue putting points into MF until I get my RoLS!

I've got 3 in QL too.

Patience is a virtue. Don't waste anymore skill points in MF. 4 is more than plenty.
