First of all, thanks to all the developers for their work on the Trail! I really like the new areas... and I'm very excited about exploring them. My concern is that the game's overall balancing might need a little tweaking -- especially as things move from the hard core fans who have been with this game since the beginning and have developed some amazing tanks.

To answer all the questions from above, I just checked, I started out the quest as a level 33 character and finished just shy of level 36.

Here were my stats (at level 34)

Base: hp:96, ap (m/a/t): 6/3/12, ac: 140%, ad: 3, bc: 24%
Skillpoints: Combat Speed x2, Quick Learner x2, Increased Fortitude x2, Magic Finder x2

The equipment I was using for this section changed up a bit. Here were the most common pieces:
Armor: Superior Chain Mail
Neck: Jewel of Fallhaven
Weapon: Dagger of Shadow Priests (when dealing with things that could be crit) & Balanced Steel Sword
Rings: RoLS (when dealing with something that I could crit), Ring of Damage +6, Villain's Ring
Hands: Troublemaker's Gloves, Guard's Gloves
Feet: Defender's boots

Personally, I don't think the character is underpowered, other than a lower than I'd like bc and lacking Mental/Body/Blood skills. But prior to this quest (with the exception of the Chaos cave) there really wasn't a huge need for those skills. But during the lich quest, the stacking of the various conditions, plus the overall effects of the rotworm, really caused a lot of problems.

It also might have been some bad luck (literally) in terms of the poison gland drop. It took me forever to get a poison gland, and at least twice ended up with stacking poisons that totaled higher than the 81 total hit points I had.

-Defender's helmet, villain's leather armour, Marrowtaint, dagger of the shadow priests, remgard shield, villain's ring*2, troublemaker's gloves, bar brawler's boots
-weapon accyracy 2, hard hit, combat speed 2, cleave, increace fortitude 3, dark blessing of the shadow

With equipment, my AC is typically over 200%. For the majority of my leveling I invested in AC.

As far as the 3 points in AD -- that does seem low, I thought I had invested more points in that -- though for the last 10 levels or so I've been building up my BC. I also never spent any skill points to bring up my base AD so that might be part of the problem.

Broadly speaking, the fact that a number of the monsters were immune to critical hits made it really tough (and again, made their relative low XP values seem a little off). And then, once I had the rotworm, the loss of both hit points AND movement points really was a problem. Though that quest seems like it would become a bit more balanced if the % drops of the poison gland were increased or if you could get a poison gland from any of that grouping of monsters (which would also make sense since all of them can poison you).

Another way to provide some level of balance would be to let you get blessings earlier in order to offset some of the rotworm penalties (or that the dude in the cave offered a more effective potion than a random 3-10 points of healing).

Hmm.. Intresting, in near future i suggest you to... raise your bace AD and consider to choose multible times bark skin skill or skill combo; weapon accyracy-hard hit-cleave...

happy hunting

mattbernius:
So correct me if i am wrong but as far as AD (with equipment) your damage ranges from
Base 3, Rols 4-7, Ring of Damage 6 = 13-16
~or~
Base 3, Rols 4-7, Villians Ring 3-6 = 10-16

I would reccomend that adding to your AD should be a priority for a little bit, the rest of your stats are well rounded.

Sarumar: great advice, i would reccomend Bark Skin and Regeneration for that GOD MODE feeling.

Thanks for the welcome and the input everyone! Well I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, well it is true I lack the perspective of the higher level game play I do dread ever getting there if the difficulty curve doesn't ease off until lvl 30, when at 10 i constantly get my butt handed to me by things the game assures me are "very easy". Anyway I do enjoy the game I just find it very grind intensive but keep up the good work and thanks for listening to our input!
