As long as there is no enemy on an adjacent tile.

and just to clarify, Shadow Regeneration will work during combat...
making that elusive ring even more appealing.

As I'm a melee type character who counts on his meat and potions, I would spend points in Weapon Accuracy, Hard Hit and of course in Increased Fortitude.
But there are so many different useful types of builds, so I think Regeneration and Corpse Eater are maybe a even better choice.

I am somewhat surprised that Increased Fortitude (19) & Regeneration (10) aren't more "neck and neck".
I would have thought that Regeneration would have received more than 10 votes with Increased Fortitude being @ 19. Maybe more like 13 or 14 votes.

I.F. is a staple for builds no matter what you are going for (heavy hitter, crit, tank, etc) so it makes sence to me that it would have 20 votes now.

I also thought that regeneration would have gotten a few more votes than it currently has (its at 11)

Regen is useful at first, but I prefer to use other skills, for various reasons. After all, regen will still be there when I get my next skill point. But what surprises me is that quick learner is not such a popular skill. How can you let so many exp points slip out of your grasp?

Because you can always kill more monsters. QL is not necessary. IF, on the other hand, is extremely important as without it you would certainly have to put lvl up points into HP (unless you're Mad P, of course). Likewise, Regen isn't quite as important because you can always eat food. Sure, it's handy and can save you some gold but there are alternatives. In fact, when looking for crucial skills which can't be achieved by anything else without severely hurting your character, IF is pretty much top of the list followed by Combat Speed and Cleave although Cleave can be skipped if you don't mind hit and run tactics.

I think QL gets more valuable later on, when you have all the other helpful skills (in my case : IF, Regeneration, Corpse eater, weapon accuracy, hard hit, cleave, combat speed x2, MF) and when it starts to take a lot more XP to level up.

There's also some who don't want to level up too much while completing quests or grinding for L&E items so they definitely wouldn't use it. Obviously we're both ok with getting as powerful as possible so we can kill our enemies with nothing more than a light tap.

IMO QL is usefull only if you like level up fast.... there are much better skills like Combat Speed, Cleave, Evasion, Fortitude , Bark skin, More criticals and then you are already near of level 100....

:D

IF obviously makes no sense @ level 5.
Equipment will do the job: 66 HP isn't that bad for a level 5 kid (with 3 level up points spent AD and 1 on AC...)

But I have to admit, all my other builds took IF at the earliest possible level, and most of them got more IF levels later on.
Free HPs on each levelling up - I love it! 8-)
