With the elyr u think the kill rate is 1/10000 but u have mf at 3. Also keep in mind that the l/e drops are not set in stone. You can kill a million of the monsters and never get the item

The 10,000 kills is just an estimate of when you might get the item... More often than not it seems players do get them before the 10,000 kill mark.

It's at best a collector's item.

Why point new players to it when there are much better items that they can hunt that will be more useful to them?

This is off topic, but I couldn't resist commenting on this remark. I couldn't disagree more. With the AP Boost and 2 levels of combat speed, and the JoF, you get 3 attacks/round and with Cleave and a monster kill, you will get a 4th. Not to mention that it is one of the only (if not the only) 2 handed sword that provides positive block chance.
My level 54 defensive-minded build uses this sword 95% of the time. He uses the Claymore of Ruin when grinding?
