Yes, yes you can.

RoLS x2 in ~1500 kills. Don't know the rocks part, since I've been dropping and been searching for RoL in between.

Yes you can drop any item from your inventory (Except for money)

To do so just long click on the item you wish to drop to bring up the menu

-Use
-Drop
-Assign quick slot
-Move to top
-Move to bottom

today I got my second RoL.

I needed approx. 56 (=57-1) sparkling gems and 153 (=922-769) rocks (I am still grinding for my thirdcRoL).
MF lvl 4

and now the 3th RoL
needed 52 sparkling gems and 65 rocks.

What to do next, I ask myself now...

Why would you try for a third? You can only equip two and there will never be a need for a third by a NPC and unless Oskar adds the chance of an item breaking, you'll never need the third.
