Yes, I know that witches can be of either gender, but the stereotypical witch is a woman and I was trying to keep the size of my post under control. And why confuse the poor man trying so hard to improve his English? There is also the point that male witches are also often called wizards or warlocks rather than witches. As I was writing that, I was trying to remember how many women were tried and hanged in the Salem witch trials. Sounds like you know. (I have always been glad that at least they were hanged rather than burned at the stake.)

Being buried alive is the worst way to go. Long enough to think about it while you suffer. Burning to death is much quicker.

Gonna have to disagree here, suffocating seems alot nicer than having your whole body burnt to a crisp while you stand there helpless.

I think it may also have to do with the situation as well, like how deep you are being burried or how you are being burnt.

I was referring to being buried alive six feet under like they did in the 16th & 17th centuries when they often buried you thinking you were dead. Hence the bell outside your grave with the string leading to your coffin.

That doesn't sound like fun at all, way too much time to think about the fact that you are running out of air. *shiver*

See, that is why I have always thought being buried alive is one of if not the worst way to die.

The graveyard shift was first coined when people would hire others to sit by a grave and watch the bell tied to the coffin in case the person in the coffin was actually alive and they started to ring the bell. I have heard that when you are burned alive, the fire will actually char your feet before you die. You basically burn from the feet up before you finally pass our from the pain.

I thought i read somewhere long ago you die from suffocation before the fire? We celebrate November 5th in UK where we burn Guy Forkes on a big bonfire and light fireworks awesome night.
