Thy: I don't see how that works either. I can save/load with one file, i think i am not understanding your description.
1) Save when room is full of baddies
2) ELIMINATE!!!
3) Check for legendary item
4) If none is found open the savefile from step 1 and continue down until you have one.
With this you do not gain Xp but you will get the Rol (or whatever) a lot faster because there is no waiting time.

This does work. I was doing this all last week with 2 builds at save slots 10 & 11. I load 10, clear map, leave the map and save. I load 11, clear & leave the map and save. I then repeat.
This works because when you save, there is a timestamp added to the saved file. This timestamp is then checked at the time of its loading. If three minutes past, then the map resets.

I made an experiment: I saved load one, loaded load 2, waited 3 minutes and then loaded load one again, no single monster has spawned.
Anyway, at the moment I grind for RoL, too, but until now I had no luck.
No monsters spawn in the map that your character is surrently in but all the other maps will have respawned when the 3 minutes are up, so save while in the map with least monsters.

Note that it is only surrounding maps that reset, not the map that your character is standing in.

Thx for this information, I really didn't know that it works this way.
But it's really boring to grind for a legendary item. Fortunately I found ElyR in less than an hour, but now i'm stuck in the Kazaul-Cave ^^

Good luck Fire! The Rol was a tough one for me to get but it was well worth the effort.

Wow, less than an hour, lucky! I'm on both ElyR and RoL with more focus on the RoL, I really want one. I seem to get quite some blackwater daggers and iron swords, not like I need cash but those sell for quite a load. 8 daggers and 5 swords
Level 60 and getting quite some xp...

I got burned out on my RoL grind a couple of months ago, then life came a-calling. I really must get back to it. My goal is to have it before the next update. (Whenever that is.)
Rest assured, I haven't abandoned AT. I'm just taking a break. I'll be around.
