i've tried taunt briefly and I liked it ok, takes a lot of skill points to get. I just wish the screen would reflect when the actor condition has been inflicted upon the monster.
actually, there is a "miss" animation that's been implemented in the Alpha...

[it looks amazing, BTW!]

maybe we can have a similar indicator show us when we have (caused / taken on) a harmful Actor Condition?

instead of showing what condition is inflicted,
maybe just flash a general symbol showing that it occured?

so we don't have to have different animations for bleeding vs poison,
just flash a symbol to let the player know an Actor Condition has been inflicted! (or sustained)

I made an indicator, but I don't know how to get the animation to work right. Maybe someone with GIMP can fix it for me? I want only one frame visible at a time, but the previous frames are staying in the image.

If you're trying to export an animated GIF in GIMP, use the following settings to make an animation with one frame per layer:
gif_export.png
However, for AT, we need the animations as spritesheets, that is, a png containing each frame side-by-side on a grid. You can see an example there: https://github.com/Zukero/andors-trail/ ... _heal2.png

As you can see, it's 16 frames of 32x32. The 8x2 arrangement is not mandatory. You can go with 4x4 for example.

you get the sword in the imp cave at the foot of Blackwater Mountain

(after defeating the guardian at the bridge)
Nope that's Shadow of the Slayer. You get Shadow's Rage from
Harlenn if you kill Guthbered

Also/instead, you could place the condition icon under the little monster pic in the top left corner (the target button) during combat, just as the character's actor condition icons appear at bottom right.

That could get visually busy if you inflict multiple conditions, of course. And if you switch target monsters, I guess you would have to swap out any actor condition icons up there. And if you flee combat after inflicting one, you'd lose sight of whether that condition is still active. But that's what you get for being cowardly ;)

I did it in 32x32. I'll separate the frames when I get back from grocery shopping this afternoon.
