If you don't care about levelling up while grinding for it, you can just reload every time you've been through the cave. Save, go in, kill all trainers and masters, reload if they didn't drop the RoLS. That way, you won't have to wait for them to respawn. The disadvantage is, of course, that you won't level up and that you won't collect the "measure items", the small rocks and polished gems, so you have no way to measure how "far in" you are. Though that's a very small disadvantage as the number of measure items isn't really meaningful anyway.

You might also want to read Samuel's excellent post on L/E items if you haven't already.

I don't quite get the logic of this approach. If you don't care about leveling up, why not just edit the save file to set your magic finder skill to some insane level and get it quickly. Boom, instant gratification.

+1! The hunt for these items might be maddening but the joy you get when you find one makes it worth it.

I was using the system clock method. That way I got the experience and didn't have to wait for respawns. Kill the Trainers - long click - task manager - settings:clock - 4 minutes forward - task manager - Android's Trail etc.

Ok I have noticed that on my new phone (Samsung Galaxy S3) that when I start the app after it closes down all of the monsters reload in other rooms. For instance, I walk into the small room to the right in the gargoyle cave, save, go back to work; When I restart all the monsters in the other 2 rooms have respawned. Anyone else notice this?

Yes,I assumed it was normal. The respawn time had passed during the time the game was closed but it doesn't work on the room you're in.

Over 900 small rocks, no luck yet. Nearly level 41, going to level up until I have 2 RoLS, getting max DR slow but steadily... just like many, play sometimes and you'll stay sane

The best technique for me when grinding for items is this:

Grind while watching TV. That way you don't feel the boredom and monotony of solid consistent grinding. That's how I got my 2 rols and kept my sanity

Getting a few points in Magic Finder doesn't hurt either
