I partly agree,
You do not have to use those skills to gain the mad amount of XP needed to get to crazy levels, but they do help.
If you are building your character with a strong AC and AD, aaaaand have enough HP to stand being hit every once and a while it doesn't matter if they hit you. Plus i still stand by my opinion that cleave is pointless more often than it is useful.
High AC, AD, HP, and a strong weapon is really all you need.
I've made it to lvl 81 without anything but Increased Fortitude, Combat speed, and Regeneration. At this point i still have no intention of spending my precious unused SPs on anything. =)
But that is just this lil Firebug's 2 cent opinion, take it or leave it.
i agree.. you do not need any skills... attitude is the key .. But there are some ways to make your life easier...Pyro you should try some of those

I also just noticed that you left out the Quick Learner skill from this list.
as you said Attitude is the key!
No, i will not falter from my plans! I will make it w/o cleave, quick learner, more crits, bark skin, etc. I am a stubborn lil Capricorn. hahahahaha
I think the less you want to level up, the more helpful Cleave can be, since you won't have as much AC, AD, BC or HP at under level 50. For that scenario, I would probably take multiple levels of IF, and using a skill point on weapon accuracy is a good boost, as is a skill that lets you get more attacks when you're forced to fight a mob. Even dodge wouldn't seem like a waste if you're using most of the regular level ups on AC & AD.

If Mad P had a ROL I would bet the same
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.
Give a man a fire and he will be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life.
I am now living case 2 in Tek's scenario...killing with my ROL and having one level of cleave, it is wasted, as with 3 AP, I do not have enough to hit a 4th time. Now, if I get my move cost down to 3, i could try and run (or consume a potion), but I'd rather take a swing.

Have you considered taking a minor potion of speed? Then your AP would be 14, so after 2 hits with the ROL, you'd have 4 AP left, and the 3 from Cleave would be more than enough for another attack.
