IMO, this is not to forget about. We should have the option to choose gender! It's also great work.

So I was browsing posts and found the one about female characters. So i grabbed a copy of your design and modded it:

What'd ya think? I decided to go with the hair over one eye look. May need a few adjustments to make that more noticeable.

i think that looks great!

it's funny, i was just looking over that thread too & it had me thinking...

if dialogue Is an issue, maybe the easiest way is to have gender just not be addressed. they can just keep calling you kid?
playing through again i'm trying to see how much of an issue this is.
my only concern was translations & if it's as easily done in other languages.
(based on one of the translators responses on that thread)

Gender neutral dialogue would be best. As for "looks like me" this can be changed to "resembles me" and would still work for female characters.

And thanks for the compliment. I slimmed the waist and lowered the hair. That's all it took, really.

When I was doing some translations to German I realized how clever this game is written - the hero could be boy or girl indeed.
Most times the hero is called "kid", and because it is all dialogue and not tale, there are no sentences like "and then he went..."

In German translation sometimes "kid" is translated as "Junge" or "Knabe" which means "boy", but that could be changed with not too much effort . (At least the actual version - the new parts I can't say of course)
Yet I found some few English phrases that should be revised then: like 1434 "good boy. now run away" or 2564 "That is unfortunate, you seemed like such a bright boy too."

This is for German, for other languages I do not know if it might be easily done.
But I like the idea of playing either boy or girl, and if it gets approved, I would like to help translating the German again.

By the way: I can only switch language between English and local (German).
Would it be difficult to enable _any_ language?

Nice, I also like the better shading below the character's feet.

OK... what happened to the Nyktos post I just read?

Well, my computer just seriously hiccupped! The neighbor who's letting me use his WiFi must be downloading again! Forget I said anything.

i'm a novice at code, but it sounds feasible?
and i know a few people that might be willing to translate... [/quote]

the translators & editors listed inside the app are tenacious...
i would bet they would love to update, if we had work for them?
