I know what you mean. Increasing my small rock count became my chief motivation for the grind. 5,000--trying for 5,500; 5,500--going for 6,000... Those goals were, unfortunatly, reachable where the ring seemed not to be. Sort of like an auctioneer. But I was extremely glad to stop collecting when the ring finally dropped.

Quick question, I know there are more places than just the gargoyle caves where small rocks drop from but has any put together a list of all those places so that I know where to avoid (or at least count rocks before and after) so that I don't lose an accurate count? I tend to wander around a lot and I don't want to accidentally pick up rocks from someplace other than gargoyle caves without at least knowing how many I picked up.

one trick is to leave all your small rocks by the gargoyles
(they wont go anywhere)

then every time you go to grind for the ring,
keep them seperate...

The escaped, starving prisoner on the way down to the lower level of Flagstone Prison drops one each time you kill him. The Kazaul imps and spawns drop them.
Just drop all your gargoyle trainer and master rocks outside the gargoyle cave, all the kazaul rocks outside the kazaul shrine enhance, and sell any from the prison and gargoyles themselves. You can pick them up on your way inside or leave them outside. (Actually, since both imps and spawns drop rocks, they are no longer considered a measure item and you can sell all your Kazaul rocks, too.)

I drop all small rocks i own near the enterance and then drop all the stones i collect near the alter so i can keep track of exactly how many i have collected.

lady Black: Yes the Starving prisoners, and the Kazul imps drops small rocks. I beleive the gargoyles also drop small rocks too, but i could be mistaken.

Since I'm not a fan of the whole 3 min wait for respawn deal I usually just run all the way in killing everything, then run all the way back out and up the road a ways till I estimate that 3 mins have gone by before running all the way back in again. This means I'm killing a LOT of gargoyles and thus my small rock estimation is probably quite a bit higher than it should be. Ugh. And counting health potions doesn't work either. Oh well, guess I'll just keep grinding till I get the RoLs and not worry about my rock count then.

Only a few of the gargoyles drop the small rocks, those in the last passage to the trainer and master rooms. You probably don't have too many from them. So lower your count by 100 and start dropping t&m rocks at the alter and gargoyle rocks outside the t&m rooms or something like that to keep them separated.

Rocks are only there to keep me company while I wait for my RoLs anyways so it really doesn't matter how many I have. I'll just make sure to stay off any of the top lists or whatever since my count won't be accurate.

i'm too lazy dont give up Fienaq, you will got the ring. I just estimated, total numbers of rock (all my buids) is near to 6000 and i have 5 RoLs without any MF.
