I am so glad to see that so many people have an opinion about the critical hits, that's great!
So, what we'll do about critical hits are two things:
The chance to score a critical hit will be replaced by a nonlinear function. This will have the effect that it will require significantly more effort to reach the high levels of having a high chance of scoring a critical hit. It will still be available, but the higher levels will be much harder to reach. I'm thinking that the actual chance to score a critical hit will be a logarithmic formula based on the CC stat.
Some monster types will be immune to critical hits. I just committed code for this, making the "Demon", "Ghost" and "Undead" classes immune. We'll have to playtest to see if this is sufficient.
Hopefully this will balance things out, and in effect make the game even more fun to play.

Thank you all for the excellent input!
How come skeleton masters and bone warriors are NOT immune to critical hits? They are the undead aren't they?
