EASY mode

when you level - you get double benefits [10HP / 6%BC etc...]
Skill Points every 2 levels, instead of four... [maybe even turn OFF rare drops?]

for very casual players - most people aren't hardcore, like this game is
I LOVE A.T. - but i think this would get Oskar & Team more downloads!

it feels like 99% of us are adults...
[hence my prior foul mouth - i will watch my tongue! sorry :? ]
but this might make it kid friendly?

just some thoughts... 8-)

[im just guessing, but... i am assuming that the coding would be easier this way]
[as opposed to curving the difficulty of the mobs / monsters / enemies]

I would rather see the game go the other direction and get more difficult.

Intersting idea. This could potentially bring A.T. to a larger sized market by making it playable for people of a wider variety of ages.

There was talk many many months ago about implementing a difficulty mode. Not sure where that talk is, but I'm sure it could be rekindled.

hard mode = harder / more puzzles! [maybe riddles too?]
colored crystal room was a tease!!!
and a breeze 8-)
maybe make it harder to crack? :twisted:
in HARD mode of course
but, icing on the cake...
future development ineed.

Good points everyone. This is actually something that I have wanted to implement, but never had the time to do properly.

My general feeling is that the "normal" game should be as it is, but that there might be an "Easy" mode that doesn't reward as much story-wise or in terms of drops or whatnot, and a "hardcore" mode that is much harder but more rewarding in drops and exp.

We'll see about getting the time to implement something like that for a future version. If anyone is willing to do the coding for it, I might be positive about committing it to svn :)

Awesome ideas, but both could be done. Have Easy, Regular, and Difficult (and possibly "Impossible") modes like a lot of games do...

possibilities: maybe have the game start out in easy mode, and increment up in difficulty automatically according to current player level... game reloads from save so regularly could put a level check just into the load program to set difficulty... for that matter, could end up infinitely difficult by doing something like a 1% increase per whatever lvl amount seems reasonable... just a thought :)
Also, could possibly add a "grind mode" that could increase mob rez % and/or repopulate a room a soon as one leaves it?

i like the idea of the whole 2 lvls for a skill point but why not make it 2 lvls for easy mode 4 lvls for normal mode and for the hardcore players make it like 6 lvls just so they dont have as many skill points to dump into magic finder or quick learner. that would truly make it harder to get the xp to lvl up and the item drops for the l&e items
