new skill: unarmed strike OR "nerf" weaponless combat

a skill that makes your physical, unarmed attack more potent .
be it faster or harder, or both with subsequent levels...
maybe even a x2 critical on your fists, at highest levels

Too overpowered I.M.H.O. there are already way to many advantages to going bare knuckle fighting but giving them even more damage or adding in a CC would just be broken.

I would like to see a negative effect to those who choose to go weaponless in the world such as a - to your BC or to you AD or even lossing HP on each hit (because hitting with bare hands hurts)

These are just a few ideas to start

maybe simply...
1.5x critical damage (one time only)
no other added buffs

Actually hitting with bare hands - shouldn't it raise chances of getting conditions? Some animals have a poison secreted onto their skin as a defense mechanism...

would wearing gloves count as "weapons"?
some of the gloves currently available give you a damage boost, anyway. if there were some gloves specifically for the unarmed combatant, that'd be kind of cool.
and some gloves could have a latex lining, to protect from conditions caught from skin contact. 8-)

Ha Ha! Like cavity search gloves of wounding? Latex gloves of fear? Rubber gloves of doom?
Actually some chain/plate gloves would be a good addition. Currently there is a pretty good choice of gloves in the game as it goes.

Another idea would be Bandit's Gloves - 15% chance of extra loot, 20% chance of extra gold.

:o thank you, for setting a new record for "distance i just spit my morning coffee".
but, yeah, you get the idea. i figure, you're losing whatever benefits you'd get from whatever weapon you'd be carrying.
i'm not using the Dagger of the Shadow Priests" because of it's damage stat. i'm using it for the low attack cost, AC, and critical adds. at 1-2 DAM, i practically AM unarmed.
that troll blocking the bridge to where the bandits are? he didn't die from my innate fighting skills; he died from laughing at the sewing needle of a weapon i was waving around at him.
unless something is given to offset the loss to my stats, there's no incentive to play unarmed. unless you count stubborn determination as an incentive. nyktos does.
