How about adding an exotic goods trader who only takes gems in exchange for a range of cool rings or necklaces? It would be a nice way allowing people to mess about with their build strategies and use all those gems.

Could randomly spawn on a road each day and have a random range of items which would add an extra dimension having to search the map for him and then hope he has the item you want when you do find him. (Not sure if any of that is technically possible.)

You could also have him only accept certain things. Currently you can sell just about everything in your inventory. When he respawns in a new location, have him only accept boars hair or blue gems or empty vials.
