Better skill progression

I would like to see better skill progression. One point every 4 levels seem to be rather slim especially in a game that is already so rough. So I personally would like to see one every three levels in stead. It would be a bit of a balm to the difficult grind of game play while keeping it challenging and also mesh better with the level requirements for some of the abilities(I mean really why set a level requirement of 5 when you get points at 4 and 8). Thanks for your time.

First I would like to say welcome to the forums!
For the skill points right now with it being every 4 it makes the player choose what kind of build he/she will want to go for (like a defencive, offencive, or ballanced build). I feel that getting 1 SP every 3 levels would give you way to many SPs and you probably wouldn't be able to use them all due to the requirements needed to get alot of the skills. Players would also get overpowered too fast and then loose interest in the game, the reason why people play (and even start over a bunch of times) is because it is challanging.
As far as the Increased Fortitude skill (the one that has a level requirement of 5), it makes you have to plan it out a bit. You can not spend the skill point at 4 and then use it at lvl 5. (You can get another level in this skill every 15 levels)
Happy hunting! -Pyro

I was going to say, I'd almost like to see more requirements implemented which require planning and strategy so that the best paths require you to take skills at lvl 5 or 23 or which require certain amounts of AD or BC to get or skills which require you to have been to certain places or defeated certain monsters. Anything more than 1 SP every 4 levels seems a bit fast to me.

Welcome!
The skill system has been very well thought out. I am aiming for internal bleeding skill with my next skill point thats about 2 mil exp away. It will take a while but the rewards will be worth it.
New skills would be great but the current 1 skill point for every 4 levels appears to work very well.

Welcome, celticmilitia!
The skill progression system works really well. It's just a bit tough at earlier levels. If it were any different it would become unbalanced at later levels.

It's true, once you get past lvl 30 (estimate depending on build) the game's difficulty level plummits.
With the new content coming out we are looking to up the challange level to keep you guys playing. bwahahahaha A.T.A. shall never have an empty seat.

Given the new monsters implemented in v0.6.11, I'd like to put another vote in for a faster progression on skill points.
The entire Lich quest demonstrates how important getting mental and poison protections are, but by the time a character is at a point where they are close to taking on that quest -- which seems like it should be at least in the mid 20's if not further along, chances to upgrade skills are few and far between.
I just finally completed the Lich and then cure quests. I started as a level 34 and by the end I was almost to level 36 (with a LOT of deaths and bonemeal potions spent to make it through). So there was no chance to even add a single skill that might help me along the way.
I think this is a sign that either:
a. more XP needs to be handed out when tackling these tougher monsters to allow more progression.
b. there need to be more potions or items to assist with dealing with these challenges (btw, the jerk only blesses me AFTER I no longer need the blessing?! *grumble grumble*! ;P)
c. or, there needs to be a better way of adding skills as a character progresses into their higher levels.

Matt,
You sound like you are under powered to be at that part of the world. Can you let us know your stats as they aren't in your signature and they aren't mentioned in this message.

That area has a lot of very tough monsters, it sounds to me like you may just need to level up a bit more before going over there. You can do that area after level 20, but I wouldnt reccomend it until after 30 usually.
