Currently I am only using barehanded, lots of +dam and jewel of fallhaven. One increased fortitude, 2 x combat speed and now I am aiming for concussion.
When I get concussion I will increase my attack chance a lot to make it effective.

I dont think the game currently has any "best" build, but I find my build working against anything that doesnt have very high damage resistance.
Against those I usually use weapon with high damage.

I havent tried crit build nor defensive build but I will someday...

So far my alt at lvl 20 has fort:2 and regen:2 and dodge:1. I save the points and did the hp add for I think 3 levels so I could get fort and regen when I hit 20. The dodge was just because I wanted a little bit better BC cause I was getting hit all the time. When I get higher, I am going to specialize in the body skills cause I am thinking about going total monk with this one. Only wear leather armour and go bare fisted, especially if they come up with some skills for that. I want to increase my combat speed and bark skin also. Sounds a little monkish to me :)

Just found my best build. I'm building a rhino type character with insane damage resistance and attack damage    . He only gets one hit in five, but so far he scores 15 damage base stats for every hit. I'm planning to get him to damage 20 per hit, before I start using lv ups on health as well.

Are you not using Increased Fortitude?

Yes, but I plan to get him base up 100 by lv 50. then with insane damage resistance and damage, he'll be unstoppable!

As long as there has been skill points i havent had to use any of my level ups to add to my HP.

I have one build focussed on Quickstrike Dagger. No block chance whatsoever, but corpse eater, regeneration and a RoLS to keep the HP high. Increased Fortitude is also helping him. I just play this build a little further whenever a new release comes out. I seem to remember that even at lower levels this build was working really well without any skills (because they weren't part of the game yet). Now I'm mostly using skills to avoid having to drink potions, though I still tend to kill most monsters before they can get a hit in.

The other build is in my sig. I'm slowly working on collecting all L/E items with it. This build has been more focussed on actually blocking, which by now it does pretty well. The RoL has been an incredibly good weapon for this build. Otherwise I get as much DR for it as I can, not even wearing the Jewel but going for the Necklace of the Protector instead. In the new areas I've had to increase my AC a bit just to have a decent hit chance when Insect Contagion is reducing it. This build has been a lot slower to get up to strength. I think it required about 50% more experience before being able to take on the same areas as the Quickstrike Build could. Around level 90-100 it did little better against the spiders than the Quickstrike build did around 60. This build is not using skills to improve combat stats.
