A Difference in Opinion - Search for Mazeg

I don't want the spoiler as to his location, but is Mazeg in this update?

Yes, and you get a hint from the potion maker that sends you to look for him on where he might be.

Hint (very basic but I put spoiler tags just in case)
He mentions the climate Mazeg was preparing for, and there's only one area with that climate he mentions

Question: Is it possible to complete the search for Mazeg and get the map to Vacor's old hideout without completing the quest which is related to Mazegs current location?

The search for mazeg and vacor's hideout are two different quests.
