Stunned

The Maonit and Arulir have the "Stunned" ability.

Attack cost +5 AP
Max AP -2
Move cost +8 AP

My current AP is 10, as is everyone's when they start the game.

Being "Stunned" results in:

Only being able to attack with a weapon that uses 3 AP or less.
Not being able to move.

Fortunately I was carrying around a Quickstrike Dagger (and I also have some potions of speed that will let me hit with weapons that require more than 3 AP), but without it I seem to basically become stuck untill I get killed as the "Stunned" effect doesn't seem to wear off while in combat.

I'm wondering whether the aim of this ability was really to kill somebody with 1 hit if they don't happen to have the right kind of weapon, potion or skill? I realise many people will take the Combat Speed skill, but if you don't, what are the chances of carrying around the right potion and/or right kind of weapon when you get to this part of the world?

I get the effect from a flavor point of view, but is the "Stunned" ability perhaps a bit too powerful?

I had a similar problem when stunned. Was using the Skullcrusher so could not attack at all. Just had to wait for the stun effect to wear off. Out of all the conditions monsters can inflict on a player this one might be the most dangerous. I guess the best plan is to equip the Quickstike dagger when you get to the bridges where the pink leotard clad hippo critters hang out. This is a well thought out condition and would be great if players could inflict stun with a blunt weapon in the next release.

Do you mean to say that the effect does wear off while in combat? I've waited for quite a while (just skipping my turns), but it did not seem to change.

I'm not sure I consider a condition that forces you to stand there untill the monster finally kills you (in certain cases, when lacking the right tools) to be well thought out. Hence my topic. I think it should either stop you from attacking or stop you from running away, but both together seems too strong.

I'm worried about less knowledgable players (AKA people not on these forums) getting stuck here, not knowing what to do to get around being stunned.

Hmm, an option I had not considered that's available to anyone. Will people realise they can do this before they decide to give up though?

Try attacking the Maonit and Arulir with the Giant Hammer.

Happy huntin'!
