I realized that there are a lot of stronger opponents have a high damage resistance value (DR).
So why not introduce armor breaking hits? The absolute value of damage is calculated like usual, but no damage resistance is subtracted. This could be because of hits to unprotected parts of monsters or weak spots of an armor. An armor breaking hit would be weaker than a critical hit but stronger than a regular one. It could even be combined with a critical hit (right in the eye!).
It could be implemented like critical hits, be a skill or just happens with a 5% chance.
PS: I don't know whether armor breaking or penetrating is correct. There is no intention of destroying the opponents armor, that is a different idea someone already had.

+1, nice to see this idea again. I suggested piercing skill earlier, it is buried somewhere...
So how about something like this. Piersing skill; level 1 bypass DR 2, level 2 bypass DR 4, etc

I'm posting here to make the topic active again. I think this is a great alternative for those who do not wish to go with crits, and it high incredibly valueable against ghosts in particular! The major upside is that is does not, like Crit, provide a benefit against all foes!
I would love this skill, as I'm not going with a crit-build.

but then it would be like player is granted extra damage for a chance and it will make consumabels purposeless which gives extra damage like potion of heightened senses and liquid courage etc.
so IMHO it is not really needed even if you are not gonna make a crit build because there are already so many things that are powerful enough to cut through or crush a enemy.

True. Hard Hit provides the same bonus. I got ahead of myself there.
It is still a nice idea, though!
One could instead add a chance to ignore the enemy's DR completely? Like Pure Blood, Strong Mind and Enduring Body, giving you a 5% chance per level?
Or a 10% chance with a cap at 5 points (50%)?
Edit: This would be a nice option if you focus on neither Crit nor Hard-hitter.

that can be a option. and there are other ways in which it can be introduced in game likeas a consumable which grants the effect at higher prices.

Yes, indeed! And it could also be an effect of a Legendary weapon instead of a skill.
Such as a low-damage weapon, for instance;
Rapier of Agility,
Legendary
When equipped:
AP: 4
AC: 25%
AD: 1-3
BC: +10
Effect:
Keen Eye
50% chance to ignore enemy Damage Reduction.
Or something in that direction.
