would be nice if something existed

the irc channel is empty, telegram seems not to exist yet?

so i don't have to post newb questions like "what the hell did i miss if I ended up here" that are too newb to be on forum

) also would be nice to have social place where to just chat

Hello ghormoon, and welcome to the forums.

I have not looked at it, but it sounds like the IRC channel never took off, even after more than six years. As the saying goes, "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink". There a just aren't enough interested people.

I think rizon is more suitable for those chatty channels than freenode (there are mostly "official" support ones imho), but it doesn't really matter

I don't think that what we need is more fragmentation.

The freenode IRC server is a stable and known one for all open-source projects. I even managed to get the ownership of the channel.

Maybe another protocol could work. IRC is great, but dated, irrelevant to younger players, and not very convenient on mobile (I tried for a couple of months to maintain presence there from my mobile).

I'm ok with freenode, but when i tried it it was empty so it seemed as no-difference, back to freenode then

There was telegram suggested (that's fine worh me), without any reply

Personally, I already have WhatsApp, WeChat, Slack, Hangouts, Skype, LinkedIn, and text messages. And, of course, emails. I am not inclined to add more.

we live in a different world, speaking of phone, i have slack (that needs new "server" anyway), skype, (sometimes irc), fb, telegram, discord

but whatever, i don't really care where it is

I have WeChat because I visit China regularly, and if you are in China and you don't have WeChat you are invisible
