Monsters More Accurately Sized

Ok, just looking very closely, it seems giant Arulirs, maonit trolls, , White Wyrms, etc seem just barely larger than our hero, who is a small child. Is it feasible to make the monsters look larger, or closer to their actual size?

The problem with accurate sizing is that monsters must be made of tiles the same size as the map tiles. And there are very few multi tile monsters in the existing tile sets.

Feel like making some pixel art?

If projectile based attacks were ever implemented it would create a loophole in fighting multi-tile creatures anyway. If you could lure the creature to an impassable choke (ie: one tile between two impassable tiles) you could get the creature stuck and just smash him to smitherines. It is like hunting with your barrel sticking through a hole in a wall.

How does one do that?

Good point, but that still adds strategy. And maybe the monsters would be smart enough to retreat in that scenario.

I don't think that would add strategy, there is no valor in fighting behind a fence. Man to Man is a test of stregnth, endurance, and cunning. Hiding behind something and killing it shouldn't bring you pride. That is why I think tree-stands should be illegal.

this is a complicated issue, especially since we haven't implemented our smart monster movement yet.
this is a really important issue that needs to be addressed if any monster bigger than our hero actually MOVES!

i love watching this game grow from the ground up!

8-)

I'm hoping we never get projectile attacks. I think hand to hand battle is where it's at. And this is a game, where we be fighting dragons!

I don't agree with most everybody's idea of hunting either. My people do it for food, not trophy's. I hate people killing animals just for trophy's. That's a very selfish, egotistical mentality and it's not right. I am glad when in that case the hunter becomes the prey.

Please, only hand to hand combat in the start of the game, ok. But there is no reason to keep this game so basic.

Monsters are ok in relation to our rather plump child. There so many other factors to be considered. Don't know how much this would add to game play. One minute he is selling rabid dog meat the next he is slicing up giant maggots. He is on average carrying enough equipment and treasure to fill an 18 wheel truck. I think all this adds to the charm of AT.
