I think this would be a very awesome sword. Base stats should be attach chance +25%, and decreases the chance an adjacent enemy will attack by 10%. What do you guys think? And for other stats?

Well, to get the same affect it could raise your block chance, that way it doesn't have to be coded to read the adjacent squares and adjust enemy stats.

Short Sword of Preemptive Strike: AP: 4 AC: 12% AD: 3-7 BC: 25%
It would have a very thick elongated hand hand guard (the name of that peice is slipping me right now). This would add weight so for it to remain one-handed it would have to be a short sword.

I love the idea Tulkas, would work pretty good with those of us who choose defensive builds.

Stats for the sword of Pre-Emptive Strike (What a long name...):
AC:5%
AD: 0 (Cause a pre-emptive strike is sudden and doesn't give much prep time)
BC: -10 (Why bother blocking if you attack first?)
Effect:
Whenever you are attacked by monsters, you get the first blows even if it is a mob which attacks you.

Thanks PK17! I like your ideas on it too, and I didn't think of the additional coding it would take to read adjacent squares. I thought maybe it would add to the evasion skill maybe.

Another good idea and a very different direction than PK17's idea. I like them both!

Looking at this again... This is more what I had in mind for this weapon. But I think it should not be 100% chance if first strike, that's why I thought it should add to Evasion. Maybe like 1 skill point worth in evasion?

I believe the words you are looking for are Cross Guard (The part that protects your hand on the hilt of the sword)

I've got an idea. Let's say the Sword of Preemptive Strike adds 50% to current evasion skill, that way it doesn't Nerf evasion by providing 100% chance of preemptive strike, but works WITH evasion and adds to it. So evasion 4 (20%), would be buffed to 30% with the sword of preemptive strike.

Thoughts?

AFAIK... evasion and some other skills and efect may change a lot in the next update of AT (agressively moving monster, skill upgraded, new skills, etc).

So imo lets wait a bit.... and after next update...

Hmmm, good point. Do you like this idea for weapon though? Not the add to evasion aspect, but the Preemptive strike part.
