Newbie questions

Post by bobtedbob »

Hi

I'm new to Andor, enjoying myself so far. I'm on my second character and currently lvl 8. When I first started I put everything in to attack chance but this meant fights seemed to take a while and I got hit often so it took a while to kill. I then re rolled and concentrated on attack damage for the first 7 levels. This made me hit hard but not that often but after getting the hardened chest item with 1 damage resistance I realised I could go in to pit with the 2 ants, minotaurs and some other green things and kill for a while as they all hit for 1 on basic hits (great! time to grind a bit here)

My question though as a newbie is how attack chance works. I'm at 113% but I miss a lot. Does my level have any impact on hit chance? I'm over 100% but I'm not hitting 100%...how does this work? What effect does the block chance of my opposition have on attack chance?

My plan is to level attack damage and attack chance to eventually get single round kills.

Lastly is there any advice on where to go /kill at different levels?

Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forum!

What I know of, the attack chances are just based on your attack chance (AC %).
I always do like when I create a new character I only focus on additional damage (AD), because if you're like level 50, you will do base 50 AD if you just get your points into AD -if you get your level up points into AC, block chance (BC %) or HP you will do less damage, but you will have a greater chance to land a successful attack, be better att blocking with higher BC and you will have more life with HP.

However: don't get points into level-up-HP (it's a waste of level-up-points), at character level 5 you have the opportunity to choose the skill Increase Fortitude that increases your total HP by 1 every level (save the skillpoint (SP) from level 4 to 5 instead).
There's alot of links on the forum to look at for advices, but just really quick:
For a low level that's new for the game, just hunt dogs and sell meat at store -buy better items and kill difficulter monsters.

Happy hunting!~

Welcom to the forums !

In later part of the game you should have at least AC 250 %

About attack chance:

And some really helpfull information by Samuel:

Here are some interesting values:

I really love that list!
Btw, on my level 86 character I have around the AC% you need for the lategame (as you can see in my signature, my AC is at 224%).
And that AC just come from the items I use, and of course the 3 skills of Weapon accuracy (12% each), that skills are a pre-requirement for another skill called Concussion, which I think will be nice for me when I get.

But to keep to the topic: You could increase AC when ever you like -my opinion is that I LOVE AD (additional dmg)

I suggest as you start out doing this:
Lvl 2 upgrade AC
Lvl 3 upgrade ad
Lvl 4 upgrade hp
Lvl 5 AC
Lvl 6 ad
Lvl 7 BC
Lvl 8 hp
Lvl 9 AC
Lvl 10 ad

You will have a balanced ac% and a attack of 5-10 depending on you weapon. But save some skill oints (sp) for some handy skills about to come out

I'd advise against spending any level up points on hitpoints, save your first (Level 4) skillpoint until level 5 and take Improved Fortitude, which will give you 1 hp / lvl forever.

My current character (L83) has only ever improved AC and AD and it works out quite nicely.

DO NOT put any points into hp, that is just silly, get at least two skill points in increased fortitude and you will never have to worry about hit points being an issue.

I personally don't put any points into Attack Damage until lvl 15 or so, it is easy to boost your AD with equipment (rings)

I go all AC early on, then start padding BC, but that is just me, but just about nobody puts points into HP.
Take a stop by my game thread for some forum fun!!!

Thanks everyone lots of good advice there, the AC/BC table is interesting and totally not what I thought :) I initially thought it would be AC of you - BC of opposition but looks like it is less like this and more exponential.

My plan is to AC/AD my way along and ignore BC (I'll try and equipment up on BC a bit)

Skills is interesting too, some signatures of super high level people seem to see people put a lot in QL so I guess after getting what you want QL is the way to go to level quicker (I have a big shopping list so might take me some time to start on QL :))

I'm hooked on the pit I am in at the moment, probably time to start questing soon....

Congrats on you lvl 200+ people...thats some grinding :)

+1 The only reason i see to put a level bonus into HP is to get Regeneration a little earlier, and that is only once.
