I'm just saying that to eliminate these questions, couldn't they just add "heavy" to the chain mail that isn't light? Because if you look at the category of the Remgard Chainmail, it only states 'chainmail'...so to the novice, it would help if it also said chainmail heavy.
all chainmail is heavy, as stated in the skill...
unless stated otherwise in the name.

something does need to be fixed

i'm a little put off by your choice of words, but that's another topic altogether...

we just need to make sure all the items are tagged properly in the category section of the description screen.

[see my screenshot - this one is how they should all look - but they do not]

no one said it would be perfect when it came out...

Just rescued the folks from up in Charwood and I'm trying to make informed decisions about which skills to learn.

I'm wearing light armor now, so that would make sense, but I may not be wearing it for long after this.

There appear to only be 3 armors in the entire game officially classified as "heavy," (2 of which are special) so I'm wondering why that's an entire skill set unto itself.

Chainmail armors, of which there are 7 in the game, do not appear to be included in either the light or heavy armor skill sets that I can learn.

Are they technically classified as one or the other, or neither? As there are so many in the game it would seem to make sense to have an available skill set that affects them? Maybe there already is and I'm missing it?

I've searched for info on this but have struck out so far.

Welcome to the forum!!!

and thanks for pointing this out!

I looked for those in the skills menu, but they don't show up until you have already chosen those skills.

no prob,

IMO there should be more info about those skills..

For new players, would it make sense to have access to the descriptions for those skills in advance, but only enable access once you've completed Charwood? The first time I finished CW I had to save and reload until I'd tried selecting all the different skills just to make sure they (mostly) did the same things.

Matthias, great question. I think this could be stated more clearly in the game.

Internally, each item has a "category", which in turn determines which skill proficiency is being used. The category is visible on the item dialog box in-game. The game reads this file:
https://github.com/oskarwiksten/andors- ... ies_1.json
for the list of categories.

All of the categories that are inventorySlot=(head, body, hand, feet) and size=(light, std) are affected by the "Light Armor"-proficiency.
All of the categories that are inventorySlot=(head, body, hand, feet) and size=(large) are affected by the "Heavy armor"-proficiency.

Actual code for that is here:
https://github.com/oskarwiksten/andors- ... .java#L290

So, the short answer is that items that show up with category "Chain mail" are considered "heavy". It all depends on what the category of the item is.

Hope that answers your question!
/Oskar
