For the weapon, it really depends on your playstyle. Fast and high Ad, go as many swings in a turn as possible with a low Attack Cost weapon, or Are you slow and cautious? Use something that has some BC to help prevent the NPCs from hitting you.
What gear are you using?

You have a good set up started here. I'd recommend taking a trip to see the woodcutters to get a better pair of boots (Available after you finish a quest)
Rings: I'd recommend using either 2 of the Villain's Ring or Polished Ring of backstabbing (Go for the Polished Ring since you are going for critical Damage)
I will warn you now that the NPCs in the Charwood area are not pushovers and can strike you for a lot of damage.. be careful and bring lots of potions.

Also be warned of the green maze monsters in there some are immune to critical hits.

Further, have Cleave Level 2, for there are lot of melee attacks...

IMHO: Don't bother with getting cleave lvl 2, that would require spending 6 skill points you could use for other skills.

this level is enough to beat the monster in the green mazed..
L = 27
AC = 202%
AD = 17-26
CHS = 17
BC = 66%

Yes you can make it! Just be sure to pack waaaay more potions than you think you would ever need.
(you might have a little trouble at first, but you will gain a few levels and t should become easier to manage)
Good luck!
