I started playing again after a long break and am now stuck:
Radiant guardian: can't move past...missing some unlock.
I had to seriously grind to get to this point.

Ha, I was in your exact situation just a couple of days ago.
You're looking for a guy named Ulirfendor who for some reason that I haven't yet uncovered shows up in the Andor's Trail Directory under Monsters rather than under NPCs. From the Radiant Guardian, head out of the central cave and go west, staying near the bottom of the map. One of the maps will have two exits to the west, a northern exit (where you entered the cave from) and a southern exit (which leads to Ulirfendor). Apparently you have to talk to this guy first in order to even get the quest. I haven't had time yet to make it all the way back to the Radiant Guardian but there are a couple of other threads on these forums that cover almost everything else such as the fact that you will find yourself going back and forth a few times (even to Loneford to talk to some priest).
Here's the map panel where Ulirfendor is located: Map
Once I finish this quest (think it may be 2 quests actually) I plan to write up a full spoiler walkthrough because like you I found myself wandering all over that cave trying to figure out what to do.

Thanks..I didn't really fancy spending forever wandering around attempting to figure out what to do.

Mighty Fiernaq: If you do end up writing any walkthroughs please be sure to send me a link so i can add it to the FAQ page. =) These quests can be problematic for adventurers (i know it has stumped me once before too)

Well, you can fight with him, so I put him in monster list. It is not really easy to decide who is it monster and what NPC, 'case same boss have conversation and they are involve in some quest. For me it was simple: if it have fight stats (AC%, BC%, HP), you can fight with it and therefor it is a monster, if don't, it is just NPC.

Richard, I think it's the right way to do it automatically. Another way could be to consider all unique monsters as NPCs...

Yea ... but then will be more difficult to compare them within his group, like Strong cave rat to another rats or [ulr=http://andorstrail.irkalla.cz/monsterli ... asp_unique]Frantic forest wasp boss[/url] to another wasps etc...

I thing it never be ideal, so it doesn't really matter how it is done ... I thing of something like search on the page, where you type something you want to find and it will redirect you to desire item, monster or NPC. Of course, now you can do something like this.

Oh yeah, I've still got the save files to do this too. I'll write something up tomorrow evening if I can remember.
