Two-handed weapons discussion

Hi guys what do think about two-handed weapons? At least I think they are very inefficient even withe proficiency skills because you can deal a lot of more damage with one-handed weapons because they have simply got a lower attack cost.
Of course I can't change the AC of the items but I could add more damage to the two-handed items so that you deal approximately as much dmg as with one-handed weapons in a round.
What do you think?

Yes they need to do more damage but a lot of the weapons do which is why I hope the whole combat system gets an overhaul as laid out by thystonious.

I agree with Duke. Fixing two-handed weapons themselves is not the right fix. The right fix is to change the way damage is calculated. One very good possibility for that is here:

overall combat, damage amounts & choices during combat - will all be tweaked in the future.
no worries!

it will just take some time...

@Duke and rjackson:
I really like Thy's idea about dmg calculation. But maybe I should provide a "fix" until his idea is released?
@Nyktos:
We should set this as one of our top priorities because dmg calculationy is a major thing in AT?

+1 once again to you Ian. Your post & kind answers, etc.. here in the forum, and especially the hard work & time what you are spend for this game... IMO You are one of the true gods of AT.

I agree with you all, but at a simplistic level we simply need more 2-handed @ <=5AP

I have a different perspective.
I value 'time' over 'rounds', and high AD weapons (like Xul'vir) accomplish this for me.
Let me explain.
My objective is to do everything possible to increase my XP harvesting rate while grinding. And by 'rate', I mean the ratio of 'XP Earned' over 'Time spent playing'.
To do this I've disabled Attack Confirmation (AT game option), set Combat Speed (AT game option) to Instant and equipped Xul'Vir.
The net result is that I actually get kills faster and with less screen touches than I would with a good duel wielding combo (such as two Balanced Steel Swords).
True, I take more hits, but my characters are high enough level now that they shrub it off and self heal quickly.
True, I get less damage per round but I couldn't care less: I've set combat speed to instant, so the only thing I car about is how many times I have to tap my thumb to kill.
So, with the methodology in mind, the existing two handed swords actually work better for me.

Exactly, Covenant. You're so high level at this point that build doesn't really matter. You could accomplish the same results of killing things with whatever weapon you chose to go with. At lower levels, a 2H simply won't provide the damage necessary to offset the low number of attacks you get which makes fights last multiple rounds which is much slower than the single round you can kill a monster in with a low AP cost weapon.
