Area difficulties misbalanced?

Hi,

at level 10, the catacombs feel like a walk in the park and the first rooms of snake cave are easy, too.
But walking around in search for Vacor's thieves or anything else is highly dangerous as one Anklebiter or one of those bigger serpents will easily kill me.
That just doesn't feel right for me.

I remember thinking the same on my first play-through. Since the world is wide open, and you can access pretty much anything from the beginning, there can be some confusing moments where u feel like a place should be harder or easier. You just have to find where you stand and step on the right bricks my friend. The Vacor's thieves should be quite easy at level 13-15. I think I did them at 11~ish.

Good luck and happy hunting

I just started a new character, and I agree. it can be easy to walk into danger and get overwhelmed...I think moving to new areas with caution is the key...

I agree it is easy to wander off somewhere far too dangerous early on if you havn't already played through. But, like the real world, one wrong turn could lead you to much more trouble than you can handle. It's all about finding that soft spot where nothing is too easy or too tough.

That's why I mentioned it. :)
I was really disappointed how easy the catacombs were.
Iogoru's cave (when I did not yet have his necklace) at level 8 was much harder.

At this time the players are more free to wonder around the world than probably needed at first. Yes, i too have fallen victim to the feeling of "Oh i can make it this way!!" only to find myself in my bed wondering what just happened.

We have had a few suggestions to add a few more early level quests in the beginning of the game to encourage players to stick around the low level areas a little longer while they develop a basic sense of how the game works.

A basic idea:
Guy in Crosslgen needs XXX from Fallhaven: he gives you money to go get it and tells you the way, at the end he also warns you not to venture to far north or south otherwise you might be attacked by the rabid animals found in the areas around town. Maybe at the end he gives you a Ring of +2 Damage and tells you that you might stand a better chance now.

Thank you for your feedback and Happy hunting!

Unless you are very familiar with the game i wouldn't recommend trying that until probably around lvl 13 or so.... the NPCs directly north of Crossglen can be a pain and the path around (While it is easier to avoid NPCs) it very treacherous.

The Area directly outside of Crossglen is a great place to hunt to start out, i usually target all the rabid dogs and focus my efforts on collecting Raw meat to sell to get better gear.
