Potion of luck

Hey all, got an idea for a new potion
(bla bla, another potion idea, bring it...)
Not sure if it's been
suggested before, but
I didn't find anything.
How about a
Potion of Luck, that increases your luck of finding items for a couple of minutes/turns? Maybe it just makes it more likely to find magical items, or, as I think,
all items. It could be added to already added content as,
or to new content. It should be quite expensive, and increase your luck of finding items by 100%.
Any
+1 or -1?
I came up with this idea when having bad luck for some runed scepters I wanted to have to gain some gold.

EDIT:
Oet wrote:Just another idea I came up with while writing this, that would be cool, if someone agrees with me.
What if the Potion of Luck gives you a (let's say 10%) chance to get 2 items instead of one when it drops.
So, every item you loot while using this has 10% chance of "duplicate"?
In that way people will not save/load abuse it either. If you have the Potion of Luck and use save/load, and you find a RoLS while doing so (that didn't duplicate), it's not like you go "meeeeh, I only found one, I'll reload again

"

Well...
Yeah it has been suggested before.
Yes, +1 here.
You can't make it a 100% boost, what if someone (who is crazy enough) has 15-20 points in mf. Instead it should simply teporarily raise your mf level by one or two. I don't THINK it is possible to add this 'on the fly' but it doesn't seem like it would be complicated to implement.

Well, if someone is crazy enough to have 15-20 levels in MF, he should be extra lucky IMHO. 100% isn't much for someone without MF. Let's also say you want to chase some Runed scepters. They are 1%. Instead they would be 2%. I don't see this 100% boost over powered.
And if you want to farm meat in snake cave, they goes from 30% to 60%.
If you have paid to get a boost, it should be a BOOST, not a "hey maybe now after spending all this gold I might get 0,00000001% extra lucky! Yay!"

I like the idea, and yes, I think we have had similar discussions....you could also tie a negative actor condition to it, like a -20% to BC.

A potion like that could be easily abused by players using a Save/reload technique
1) Save game
2) use potion and fight NPCs
3) didn't get it? Reload from savefile, use potion again (You can use it forever!!!)

Well, if someone is ready to destroy a game so much as using the save/load technique, they can destroy the game even more, IMHO. That is not something we should keep in mind when discussing new items...

Better than a potion would be some jewelry of luck (necklace or ring or even both).
You'll have a greater chance to find something, but lack the advantage of the JoF/MT and (or) your precious ring(s).

Agreed. The save/load technique can also ruin things like blessings, or any status effect actually...
I actually like the idea, but would make it impact ALL randoms (dice rolls) in favor of the player for a short time (say 5 rounds).

That would also work. The only thing this isn't stopping is the high leveled players that will be invincible with or without their rings
Do you think it should give any benefits to bc/ac/ad/dr? Or maybe lower them?
Ring of Serendipitous Luck [RSL]
Increases chance of finding Magical Items by xx%
Lowers Block Chance by 13%
Lowers Attack Chance by 22%

Good idea!

Why not just make loading a game remove all actor conditions that aren't provided by an equipped item? That would prevent save/load while using a potion from being a viable option since loading the game would remove that temporary actor condition.
For something like "luck" that affects your chances of getting a rare item to drop I think I'd prefer to see an expensive but temporary potion rather than a permanent equippable item that you simply unequip once you get the drop you're looking for.
