Armor Proficiency

Hoi chummers,
imho at the moment Armor Proficiency makes little to less sense to me.
Heavy Armor Proficiency needs 4 lvls to neutralize AP penalties but gives only low BC benefits. For the heavy mail of the Champ the BC increase is 19. Investing 4 lvl in dodge gives 36 points of BC, regardless of worn armor. O.k. if choosen as quest reward it mskes only 3 skill points and 27 BC.
Same for light armor. Only taking the reward makes sense, investing in additional skill points doesn't, does it?
Wearing no armor does benefit from None Armor Proficiency, but then not everybody wants to use the SRoV (first one has the luck to get it).
So I like to ask for additional benefits gaining from the 3 Armor Proficiency skills.
What about increasing max AP by 1 or 2 points when getting max skill points? The ElyR would evt. benefit from it. Or add 1 HP on kill. Or give on point of a skill fitting to the choosen Armor Proficiency skill.
Edit 28.02.2014:
I apologize for been wrong. The answers from this thread enlightens me.
Never stop learning...
Helmets, boots and cloves are categorised too, and choosing wisely the desired combination benefits from Armor Proficiency, more tham from dodge skill.
On the other hand enables a certain level of dodge skill (in combination with another skill) to choose a high level skill.
But atm is the combination of bwm armor with Light Armor Proficiency unbeatable. It could provide up to 191 BC increase (bwm cap, bwm leather, cloves of the protector, enhanced combat boots, 2x ring of protector, 2x bwm sword) or even more (guess +211 BC represents atm max from combination of equipment and skills weapon&shield + dual wield (yes, dual wield adds BC even when equipping sword & shield).
So, summarising, I like to ask nethertheless to adjust Heavy Armor Proficiency. Imho it should lead to highest BC of any possible combination. Or Heavy items provides some very interesting actor condition, which stay interesting for high lvl chars too.
