better grinding method?

Hello all!
still new to posting on forum been playing for awhile,
the thought occurs to me that while grinding is an essential part of ANY rpg, the amount of grinding for legendary/exceptional items in this game seems to be a bit excessive as such another idea occurs to me (dunno if this idea has been posted elsewhere)

As the game already tracks how many of what monsters you have killed how hard would it be to implement some coding that raises the drop chance of magical items by a small amount for every... I dunno 100 of the same monster you kill until you get one and then it resets?(perhaps just a 0.01% or 0.1% raise per 100?) 10k kills to have a statistical likely hood of finding a legendary item of %100 percent without ACTUALLY having a %100 seems a bit harsh to me. I know there is coding in place from the MF skill that somewhat emulates the effect of having a better chance of finding magic items although I think It's VERY underpowered for being a skill on it's own. or perhaps the MF skill acts in this way instead of being a flat rate percentile raise that is a ridiculously small rise in chance(IMO anyway) have it work in conjunction with the monster kill tracking in this fashion?

OR

Perhaps just increase the MF rate by 0.01% per character level much like increased fortitude? It would help to keep players from overdeveloping their PCs beyond what is needed for whatever comes out with the next update?

Hmm.
Your first suggestion is pretty good in theory. I've seen it done in a lot of games for different things. Not sure how it would pan out in-game though.. Also, it takes away from the "how many kills till you got your RoLS?" side of things.. The numbers would tend to average out, I feel. That changes the game considerably.

However, for the second part, I think this could work very well. But more like 0.001-0.005% raise per level.. Point oh one per cent is a lot when working with beg numbers..

Anyway, welcome to the forums!
Happy hunting! (And lotsa good suggestions, btw)

I would support the idea of implementing thw fumxtion in MF-Skill! That each Real level - your character level - (from when you obtain it) add another 0.5% to original drop chanses per level in MF. So, with MF 2 at level 58 (should you have obtained the skill at lvl 4 and 8) would give you another 49.5% in the MF bonus (almost another point in MF for 50 lvls). And then, the more you'd invest, the higher the progressive rate would be :-)

Having monster-kill-count increase your chanses would just nullify the MF skill, so that's a no-go I'm afraid.
