I have tried it quite a few times but am unaware how to get through blackwater maze, can somebody help ?

You are level 51 and have not made it to Blackwater?

you mean the dark part?
I think someone already posted the map here in the forum.
But more interesting you could find the way yourself: you could go straight until blocked and drop a useless item there then turn and straight again, and so on. Maybe some droppings in between. In a dead end maybe you recollect the items. Then it is not that difficult. You have to climb at least once into second level, but this is rather short until back again.

By the way it is a good idea to mark the path anyway, because you will probably go it more than once...

(somebody gave this idea for the green maze, being glad to have a use for all these thousends of rocks of the gargoyle men)

Does the game save the positions of the dropped items if I restart the game?

When you save, all lootbags are saved.
