Weapon proficiencies

My current character is dual wield, and at the end of the Charwood quest I selected Dagger Proficiency to use two daggers (I've got the Dagger of the Shadow Priests, the Venomous Dagger, Blade of the Defiler, and a stiletto for good measure). I'm currently wielding the Pride of Flagstone and the Dagger of the Shadow Priests. I was considering putting another skill point into Dagger Proficiency, but when I did a test run with a 2nd level of DP I was better off sticking with the PofF and DofSP. I don't mind that one level doesn't push it over the edge, since that first level is a freebie, but I think that two levels should definitely at least even it out. I'm assuming that if I go the full three levels in DP it will make dual-wielding two daggers better than my current setup, but I don't want to burn two skill slots for a minimal improvement.
tl;dr, the Dagger Proficiency skill doesn't seem to offer any real benefits.

Unless it's been sorted in the recent updates, there's a bit of a bug in Dual Wield when it comes to daggers.

Falothen:
Note that his proficiencies only affect weapons in your "main" weapon slot. Dual-wielders can, apparently, pound sand.

Proficiencies affect your off-hand item, depending on your dual-wield level.
If you have a dagger that gives 10AC, one level in Dagger Proficiency makes it 13 (30% bonus).
If you have this dagger in your off-hand, and only one level in dual-wield (50% of the benefits), you'll have 6AC from that dagger (50% of 13 rounded down).
This is valid for all weapons (except two-handers obviously), not only daggers.

I've got Dual-Wield Specialization and maxed out Dual-Wield Fighting style, so I'm not suffering any penalty. I just think the math is off on the Combat Style -- daggers skill. I should be able to dual wield two daggers (not normal daggers, but the ones I mentioned above) with two levels of the skill and have better stats than wielding a dagger and sword.

You would have, if there were another dagger that as good as Flagstone's pride, but there isn't. I took the first level of proficiency in both daggers and one handed swords. That gives you a lot of options with a dual wield build. Try 2 x balanced steel sword against crit immune monsters!
