Is there a cap on Quick Learner?
Doesn't appear to be, but I've never applied any Skill Pts to it.

Never seemed quite worth a skill pt since only get 5% 'faster' leveling.
So it would take 5! skill pts just to level 25% faster.. seems like those 5 skill pts could be applied to other skills that would Effectively speed leveling even more. But nice to have options!

Now if QL granted 10% faster leveling, then yeah--worth considering.
And could have a 5 max/cap.

Agreed. QL is garbage and is so not worth it when compared to other options.

Interesting strategy.. gonna take a while to reach level 400 unless apply a lot of skill points to QL--as you've indicated, of course.

But what happens after 19 skill pts are applied to QL? -if each point knocks the # of Exp Pts needed to level up, then (seemingly?) at 19 skills points applied to QL, you're down to only needed 1/20th the usual Exp Pts.. so..if you are able to apply a 20th point to QL, then you (practically) auto-level with every kill ?!?
Or is there some cap/limit on QL?

EDIT: initially typed 'MF' but meant QL. Apologies for sleep-deprived mistake! zzzz

20 skill points of MF will raise your chances of obtaining a non ordinary item by 50% of original chance of obtaining said item..

I.E.; legendary items would be a 1/10,000 chance with zero MF skill points, so with 20 MF skill points would be a 10/10,000 chance.
(if I understand MF correctly) ..it has nothing to do with levelling up.

I am curious as to what items, besides the obvious (legendary&extraordinary) are affected by MF..

Growler, I think you are referring to QL, although attempting to formulate an answer to your queiry is making my head hurt. :D

Skill points aside, to get to 60 QL a player will need to get to level 240, assuming every skill point is put into QL.. Also, keep in mind that every level costs more in exp points than the last, so I am thinking it's not as helpful as it may seem to be..

BTW, I am at level 120 currently, and way too powerful for anything currently in the game, so level 400 seems pointless (except for bragging rights, of course.)

It's an interesting experiment though, keep us informed, Rafael_16..

Yes, sorry! Meant 'QL' rather than 'MF' -- shouldn't post when needing the zzzz's :O

But now I'm confused by how MF works.. the description indicates just 1 level of MF provides a 50% increased chance of finding magical items..right? Think there's a calculation shown here in the forum for how the math works..
But if you're seeking a Legendary item (say, RoLS), then you're starting from such loooow odds (1 in 10,000) that even a 50% increase (1 in 6,667 ?) is still a long-shot.

Here's what seems to be the Official math behind MF -- copied from another thread:
Btw, is there a comparable list for levels of QL somewhere?
------------

Code: Select all

Skillpoints | Legendary drop chance | extraordinary drop chance
0 0.010% 0.100%
1 0.015% 0.150%
2 0.020% 0.200% (so 2 levels should Double your odds)
3 0.025% 0.250%
4 0.030% 0.300% (4 levels should Triple your odds)
5 0.035% 0.350%
6 0.040% 0.400% (and 6 levels should Quadruple your odds)
7 0.045% 0.450%
8 0.050% 0.500%
9 0.055% 0.550%
10 0.060% 0.600% (beast of all: 10 levels should *Sextuple* your odds..yay)
11 0.065% 0.650%
12 0.070% 0.700%
13 0.075% 0.750%
14 0.080% 0.800%
15 0.085% 0.850%
16 0.090% 0.900%
17 0.095% 0.950%
18 0.100% 1.000% (and 18 levels should improve odds by 10x)
19 0.105% 1.050%
20 0.110% 1.100%
From Samuel's post July 20, 2011:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=703&hilit=MF+magic+ ... l&start=40
--------------------------------------------------
So extra levels beyond the first few seem to offer diminishing Percentage odds of improvement.. maybe worth a couple skill pts applied to MF to significantly improve your odds, but not beyond that unless you have Skill Pts to burn!
----------
Wow..Level 120 is super-impressive, Eor !!

You just need luck. With my first character I had at the very first kill Glove of life force and the Black defender.
With another char., I had Ring of lesser shadow but I'm still grinding for everything else. And so on...

Anyway Xul'viir is the coolest weapon in the game.

Upon further review, QL increases amount of experience given by defeating monsters by 5% for each skill level, so 20 skil points spent equates into every monster being worth double their original value, assuming the 5% is fixed on the original value..

So a critter worth 100 xp with zero QL is worth 200 xp with twenty QL..but to get twenty QL you will be at level 100, where it costs about 600,000 xp (give or take) to level up.

Still, if the goal is to get to level 400, it's an interesting way to try..there is no wrong way to play AT, after all..

Thank you..it's what happens when you only play one character for half a decade :P
