Translations are performed by volunteers and completed at their pace. So I can't really answer this question.

I mean we have completed the translation, when will it be updated to the game?

Completed (or nearly completed) translations are normally added at the next release. I'm not sure about Chinese though. In theory, it could affect a very large number of people. But the Play store is not available in China, so very few people there will even know AT exists. I have a couple of very tech savvy friends in Chengdu though, so I'll look into what we might do.

Edit: most of the translation is already available in the game.

Ok, before the next version, we can have time to continue to improve the translation.

OK.

It turns out we are not allowed to publish directly to any Chinese app store. We must pay a Chinese company for this, and go through an approval process that we will almost certainly not pass (app has languages other than Chinese, violence, a couple of card games, a story that includes things they probably won't like, is still being updated, etc., etc.). So publishing in any Chinese app store will not happen.

That's a pity. Nevertheless someone had done the translation work and obviously belives that there are other Chinese people who find the game.

Yes, it's unfortunate. But the restrictions on publishing a game in China are severe. No blood, no ghosts, skeletons, or zombies, no drinking (there goes the mead!), no "encouragement to gamble", Chinese language only, no religion (questionable as to whether the Shadow falls into that, but they would probably think so), and, above all, no game can be registered and approved except by a Chinese entity. So we would have to pay a lot of money, which as a volunteer game we obviously cannot.

I'm not sure what the restrictions are on Chinese Android phones regarding sideloading apps, but I can find that out. It used to be possible, because I've done it, but I don't know now.

Update: Ian got back to me. It is certainly possible to install AT on a Chinese Android phone. Also, although AT is not available on official app stores, it can be downloaded from websites that can be found using the Chinese search engine Baidu. So although it may not be obvious how to find it in China, it is possible to download and install it.

Knowing a bit about how it works in China, never ever enable or encouragr anyone in China to sideload the game. If someone there takes a dim view of it, the official links of the game will be maliciously invaded online, which may set back the game developers by a lot. Stay safe.

Actually, turns out there are several places to get it in China, although they are bootleg copies and most are out of date. Unlike the RoW, they don't have a single store that dominates for Android. There is also an app, OurPlay, that allows access to the Google Play Store. We just can't publish it in any of the major stores.

Good news with the bugfix release, thanks!

Which commit is it based on? There seems to be no release tag.

I suppose it is one of these two commits:

d2193a97 ("Merge fixes", 2021-12-18)
04fbbac7 ("Merge remote-tracking branch 'hosted.weblate/master'", 2021-12-18)

(first is the merge commit after the change of the release notes, the second includes additional translations)

I am building my own apk or my personal use and would like to base it on the official releases :-)
