D-pad

Please please please implement a D-pad for movement! I would say that the movement in this game is my single biggest problem/complaint; I find it extremely frustrating to dance around a mob trying to attack it (because it keeps moving, and I keep stepping the wrong direction unintentionally) only to have it suddenly hit me first. I also have fairly large fingers, and the current setup makes it difficult to see where I'm going near screen edges. I'd wager I'm not the only one dealing with these issues.
Great game overall! I have really been enjoying it!

This is something I was going to suggest. D pads are notoriously difficult to use on touch screens, though I've seen it implemented well. The 4 cardinal directions and 4 diagonals would be helpful, but should be optional, perhaps turned off by default.

Today, the movement direction is determined relative the current position of the player with the help of a routing algorithm. How about a (optional) change so it's relative the center of the screen without routing? Then you would use the whole screen as a invisible, virtual D-pad.

I agree. I am actually dreading getting a new phone because my HTC Hero has a track ball which I use for movement. The wife just got an EVO and I gave up trying to play on her phone due to having to use the touch screen for movement. It's also hard to see where you are going when your finger is in the way!!!

I disagree. Personally I like the touchscreen and being able to touch where ever I need to get around. Sometimes I don't want to run in to specific creatures and its just easier to move around without having to worry about a specific dpad and hitting specific spots to move my character.

Maybe the movement control it would an option dpad or touch.
Personally i'm playing with an htc desire and i use the optical mouse, but i have tried the game on desire hd and with touch movement it is very difficult
to control the player specially near monster if dont want to attack.

I second this.
It would also clear up issues about moving around map edges.

How did I not see this before?! This would be awesome! Lately I've been getting really tired of the "fight me" dance I seem to be constantly engaged in with trainers. It's one thing if the enemy surprises me to get the first turn, I don't mind that; it's another thing entirely when I'm actually
trying to fight it but can't start battle because my thumb isn't transparent, then the thing gets a surprise hit in!
In case I'm not being clear, I third this.
