So during the long slog for a RoLS a few things happened that seemed to be pretty rare. And i was wondering what the chances of them happening are. Pardons if my math is worse than i realize.

First unusual event, although i happened at least 3-4 times, was i received 4 items (but no ring) in a drop. I dont know the drop rates for the small rocks, regular health potions, ruby gems and polished gems are, but seeing all 4 in and no ring (several times) was titillating at first, and a let down later. Just multiplying the drop rates will give the chance of seeing all 4 at once. Right?

Second unusual event only happened once. My memory is a little fuzzy on this one but this is what i recall... A Shadow gargoyle master (AC: 125%, AD; 3-6, CC:12%, CM: 3) or a Shadow gargoyle trainer (AC: 90%, AD; 3-6, CC:12%, CM: 3) hit me twice for 16 hp each. At the time i had a DR of 2 which meant that i was hit for the full amount of 18 twice (I think my BC: was 41%). What is the chance either of those monsters could hit me for max damage twice?

So a SGM (master) should have a (125% - 41% = 84 and 84 on the chart is about a) 72% chance to hit me. So is the chance to be hit twice with those stats about (.72 * .12 * .25)^2 = .0004665 or about .047%? Or about once out of every 2143 rounds a SGM attacks?

A SGT (trainer) should have a (90% - 41% = 49 and 49 on the chart is about a) 50% chance to hit. So (.50 * .12 * .25)^2 = .000225. Or once every 4444 rounds a SGT attacks?

Just a malingering set of questions during the long grind for RoLS...

I have not been interested enough to look up the drop rates on all 4 of the items from the gargoyle trainers and masters, but I can tell you that it is not an extremely rare event. I have had the quadruple-drop occur quite a number of times during my attempt to get the RoLS. Currently I am working to reach 7500 small rocks fr,om the trainers and masters only, and hoping to stop before I get there because I finally get the ring. However, at 7205, I only have another 300 (-5) rocks to go to 7500. I really should have gotten the ring a long time ago!
I remember thinking that the ring must be in the mix the first time I got a quad-drop, or that I must get it soon if I got everything else at once. I learned otherwise fairly quickly. Anyway, quad-drops occur (for me) more often than I would really expect, while the ring never drops. ,

I think I just had a wave of nausea hit me when I saw 7000 rocks. I'd be mental. I'll try and send you some positive thoughts Lady black. Use the force Luke.

I didn't mean to make anybody sick. Having been in biological research all my working life, which often requires large amounts of fiddly detail work and labelling many various items for collecting and storing multiple samples from numerous animals for a series of experiments has been good preparation for this search for the extraordinary items, I think. I also think that I am the oldest person on this forum, having retired several years back. Rory Mac, you are just a kid. I think age often teaches more patience.
All that being said, I have given up temporarily several times and tried the Kazaul imps or the wyrm trainers and apprentices instead, but keep coming back to the gargoyle cave.
I keep thinking that I have to get the ring very soon now! (Of course, I have been thinking that for a very long time.)
