i did try it out and made it to the boss but he was just to much for me every turn i was healing and never got a chance to hit so i just gave up. Chaotic grip can really mess up your day.

Stickboy wrote:Although I value most everything I have read from nyktos, take this with a grain of salt. Nyktos finished all quests at level 1...he is not an average player. He has mastered the current incarnation of the game with the fewest resources available. Iqhan caves is probably a little bit above a level 33's head. Somewhere between Level 50 and 60, depending on your build, the Iqhan caves become perhaps the only worthwhile place in v0.6.10 to grind for experience. Below 50 you are spending too much time saving and drinking potions that you can probably level more quickly at BWM. Gargoyle cave is actually very boring after level 30 or so...take it from someone who spent two months there grinding for a darned ring.
I was going to say something similar, but since Stickboy already got to it, I'll just say that I agree. Leveling up fast means having a good balance of high XP reward and relatively easy to kill monsters. If you have to save and reload or stop to drink potions then you would probably gain XP faster killing monsters that give less XP but that you can kill more easily.

So I would suggest staying in the Gargoyle caves until you hit level 40 or you get a 2nd RoLS, whichever happens first. After that, stock up on meat and potions (just in case) and go to the area by the snow cabin near Blackwater Mountain settlement. The Auleths, Wyrms and Wyrm Trainers and Apprentices are in between the Iqhan cave monsters for difficult and XP gain. Also, if you want more gold to buy more potions, or better equipment, the Gargoyle caves and BWM cabin area have a better gold drop rate (the Iqhan creatures usually drop less 5 gold pieces).

But, I agree with Nyktos' spoiler.
If you can make it through just once and get the Dagger of the Shadow Priest, go for that because its the best critical hit weapon out there and combined with the RoLS (or Polished Ring of Backstabbing), troublemaker's gloves and villain's (leather?) armor, those critical hits will come in handy for killing Gargoyle trainers and masters).

That is so true. Chaotic Grip is a real bummer

This thread is about the RoLS (Ring of Lesser Shadow) i think what you are talking about is trying to get the DotSP (Dagger of the Shadow Priest).

I went into the gargoyle caves with a Magic Finder skill of 1. Each time I got a Skill Point, I put it to Magic Finder. I've got a Magic Finder skill of 4 now. I think you get a skill point every 3 levels and I'm level 64 so you can imagine I've been grinding a while - several weeks!

Make that 3030 small rocks - Still no RoLS. :(

Is there a limit to the amount of stuff you can have in the inventory list? Just in case there is, I used the 4 cooked meat items I had to possibly free up a slot. :)

Back to the grind... :D

Edit Reason - Updated small rocks amount

No there is no limit as of yet to the no. of items in inventory items.

Also, you get a skill point every 4 levels.

best of luck for the grind ..!!

:D FINALLY! :D

3080 was my number. However, I think I had some serious bad luck considering I had a MF skill of 1 when I began the grind and added skill points to MF each time I had the chance. Had a MF skill of 4 when I FINALLY found my precious.

Gotta admit, it's kinda anti-climatic. Oh well, quest fulfilled. Now do I go for two...?
