3080 was my number. However, I think I had some serious bad luck considering I had a MF skill of 1 when I began the grind and added skill points to MF each time I had the chance. Had a MF skill of 4 when I FINALLY found my precious.
Gotta admit, it's kinda anti-climatic. Oh well, quest fulfilled. Now do I go for two...?
ofcourse go for second....if you are bored go for RoL and then come back again.
RoL is not that easy to get but with MF 4 its slightly easier.
I almost feel guilty, I got mine this morning at 265 rocks. I was just settling into the idea of being in the snake room for a few weeks and was left a little a gape when it actually appeared. I had to reread it just to be sure I wasn't being tricked by some other ring.

Congratulations on your RoLS! Good luck on getting your second.
I was much luckier getting my 2nd RoLS - under 700 more rocks! I got both in just over 3700 rocks (keep in mind I had a MF skill of 4 since around 2500 rocks).
Number of kills can be found within the save files. Otherwise, just count the measure item found in the Extraordinary and legendary items thread. In the case of the RoLs that would be Small Rocks. That's why you'll see in my signature the abbreviation "SR" for Small Rocks. Do note, however, that the gargoyles can also drop small rocks (though at a much lower drop rate) so in order to be accurate, you would have to have 2 piles of small rocks on the ground... one pile for rocks picked up while killing gargoyles and one pile for rocks picked up while killing the trainers that also drop the RoLs. At this point I have about 290 small rocks from the trainers and about 50 small rocks from the gargoyles which don't count towards the measure. Apparently, I need about 2210 more small rocks to have killed 10,000 of the trainers
